I’ll be playing pathfinder D&D with my brother and sister, it already rocks despite that I’ve only run a small test with my bother, though that turned into an actual cannon part of our adventure. I feel it may be worth while to jot things down here as it’s really my first experience legitimately being a GM with enough understanding of the game to be competent and I’d like to have the full story in writing from the beginning to look back on. Because I’m legitimately too lazy to set up encounters and such far enough ahead of time we’re going to be running through a trio of modules starting with “Crypt of the Everflame” and then the two sequels depending on how we feel afterwards, I may have them fighting through a mine to determine the source of an attack on a mining camp afterward though.
Introducing: Louis Jean’eriq, a human fighter quite fond of walling himself up in a suit of steel a smashing through any foe with spiked shield and sword alike. He has a peculiar sense of ethics when it comes to taking things that don’t belong to him (neutral character played by my brother). Vim Sproketspanker does not go by his last name. Generally assumed to be a human of some obscure nationality this halfbreed gnome/elf (child of a previous gnome character I played who had a hair fetish leading to her being hilariously promiscuous) sorcerer has a myriad of hidden infernal ambitions (though of abyssal bloodline) and is nothing short of cold and calculating, though often motivated by a simple desire for the excitement of combat (lawful evil character played by myself). The final hero of this trio is so far known only as Medusa, a half Orc witch with a weasel familiar and a patron of the occult. Medusa works in mysterious ways, wielding a rare firearm and the mind altering and often poisonous spells of her class (lawful evil character played by my sister). These three companions have traveled to the city of Kassen and there the adventure begins.
The mayor of Kassen asked the capable trio to run an errand as soon as they settled into their lodgings and were seen around the small town. With no traders heading that direction and with the mayor hoping not to endanger his upcoming reelection by spreading panic where none might be due he wanted the adventurers to check up on a mining camp north of town. The worry of the mayor is that the camp has not been heard from in several days longer than usual and while nobody seems to be worried yet the mayor has discreetly invested in the mining efforts and would like his regular dividends payed on time. Vim, Louis and Medusa went to check on the camp. Along the way Medusa fell into a deep trance of communion with her patron (My sister was at a friends house) so Vim and Louis left her on a boat they used to cross a river. Entering the mining camp it was found inhabited by dead workers and various forms of undead, the source of which is unknown at this time, with only hints left in recovered shift logs that something strange might have been dug up. Together they returned with a badly injured man in a coma who had been slowly dying and unable to escape without drawing notice from the undead. When Vim and Louis had returned to the boat Louis, who though Medusa was lazily sleeping rather than communing with beings of untold age and power, rudely kicked her awake, cutting short her ascension to godhood. Though she retained some of the cosmic energies she was about to join she remembers nothing of her trance (she gained a level despite not being with us). In thanks for rescuing the man and clearing out the undead from the camp mayor Uptal invited the adventurers to take part in the Quest of the Everflame, a celebration of the history of Kassen, and set them up with room and board until then.
monsters killed in the camp:
5 human skeleton
4 bloody skeleton
apocalypse zombie
rat swarm
at first this was going to be an endurance test, and it was going to end with the apocalypse zombie killing us handily, but I got lucky with a pearl of brilliance hit and rolled max damage on top of the zombie failing its save against being blinded for 1d4 rounds, Louis basically lol’d and chopped its head off after that. At that point it made sense to just make it canon and run with it.
